The Kentfield Schools Foundation, a nonprofit, public benefit organization, is a group of parents and community members who volunteer their time and efforts for fundraising activities to support basic programs and fund additional programs that foster excellence in education at Bacich Elementary and Kent Middle schools in Kentfield, California.
Each year, Kentfield Schools Foundation parent volunteers embrace the challenge of raising funds to meet the financial commitment that has been made to the Kentfield School District. Traditionally, the Kentfield Schools Foundation raises most of its funds through the following campaigns:
Since the passage of Proposition 13 in 1978, California's funding for public schools declined dramatically. To maintain basic educational programs and to fund other programs that will provide our children with the best possible education in the Kentfield Schools District, we need to raise significant funds each year.
The Annual Parent Giving Campaign is our major fundraising program, generating approximately 65% of the funds that we commit to the Kentfield School District each year. The Parent Giving Campaign kicks off in late September, and 100% participation from all families is a critical goal of the KSF.
Corporate Matching Gifts have substantially increased our Parent Giving donations, and we encourage any parent who is employed by an organization that provides this invaluable program to contact the KSF for more information.
Stock Donations: The benefits of giving appreciated securities are significant. Your tax deductible donation is based on the fair market value of the security at the time of your donation, if you’ve owned the stock for at least one year. By donating the security rather than selling it, you avoid potential capital gains taxes. Please call the Foundation office at 415- 461-7369 for details on how to donate stock.
The Partners for Education Program is a unique way for a business or a professional individual to support our schools and at the same time gain valuable exposure through a variety of ways, including an acknowledgement in the Kentfield Schools Directory with a display ad. The Kentfield Schools Directory serves over 850 families, including the families of staff members.
To learn more about our Partners for Education program, please call the KSF office at 415-461-7369.
This year's event on March 24, 2007 is themed "Tombola Rocks!" For more information about attending or donating to the silent auction, please contact the KSF office at 415-461-7369.
On May 5, 2006, StoneTree Golf Club was the site of the first Kentfield Schools Foundation Golf Tournament and Wine Auction, Vino de Mayo. Golfers and Fiesta goers enjoyed great golf, fabulous food, and a fiesta with live entertainment by The Clark Kentfields!. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor of our next Golf Tournament in the spring of 2008, please contact the KSF office at 415-461-7369.
When you sign up for this great program, each time you make a purchase at one of the participating merchants, or order online, a percentage of your total is donated to our schools. By registering your ATM or credit card with eScrip Inc., the businesses contribute a percentage of your purchase directly to us, electronically, with very little effort from you!
To register for eScrip just go to www.escrip.com, type in our group ID #139590409 and name the Kentfield Schools Foundation as the recipient of your choice. This simple program accounted for over $50,000 in additional funding for our schools this past year, but could easily earn us in excess of $100,000 if every family registered their cards and maintained their information. Please help us in earning this free money for our schools.
The Kentfield Schools Foundation offers an opportunity to build a legacy in support of the Kentfield Public Schools. This fund, administered by The Marin Community Foundation, is designed to provide long-term stability and sustain important programs for future generations of children. We encourage supporters to consider naming the KSF Endowment Fund as a beneficiary in their will or to make current gifts of cash or securities into the fund. Contributions are intended to be long-term assets, dedicated to providing a stable and predictable source of income for the organization.
To learn more about our Endowment Fund, please call the KSF office at 415.461.7369
For every new Kindergarten family that makes a “Fair Share” contribution per child in the Annual Parent Giving Campaign, Woodlands Market and the Santa family contributes an additional $350 to the Kentfield Schools Foundation. 2005-2006 marks the fifth year that Woodlands Market and the Santa family have so generously offered this program.
For a third year, an anonymous benefactor has generously offered a $25,000 challenge! For every family that either contributes for the first time, or increases their gift from last year, this donor will match your gift or increase dollar for dollar - up to $25,000. Last year, our community stepped up and happily met this challenge. We hope to do it again in 2006-2007!
The Santa Fund was established by the Santa family of Woodlands Market in memory of their father, Lawrence Santa. This fund was specifically created to provide long-term financial security for the Kentfield Schools.
Over the years, through generous donations from the Santa family, parents and community members, this fund has grown to meet its targeted goal of having assets equal to 50 percent of the current year's commitment to the Kentfield School District.
In the event of a shortfall in yearly Foundation fundraising, we are able to draw from this fund to provide the financial resources needed by the district for that year.
